ABOUT THE LAKE

ETANG LA PLANCHETTE

The beautiful lake of Etang La Planchette is 8 acres in size & set in 20 acres of private land & nestled in a tranquil Valley of rural countryside set in the Lorraine region which is listed as an area of natural beauty.

When driving through the entrance toward the lake you pass through its own little wood which holds many different visiting wildlife from deer & their young, fox & cubs which can sometimes be seen playing on the meadow which you pass by before reaching the beautiful, picturesque, tranquil Lake. Sometimes even wild boar with their young pop by the wood or just pass through. Many  species of birds visit us and can be seen in the woods and around the lake. Hawks & eagles are regularly seen circling overhead. Plant life, wild flowers & trees are abundant throughout the property which makes for a rural feast for the soul!

The Lake is situated on a graveled bed and is well stocked with carp in excess of 60lb. It’s full of snails, swan mussels, blood worm and daphnia which makes for a great environment for the fish, plus a large variety of natural plants, wildflowers & trees surround the lake.

There are 6 large gravelled swims that hold a maximum of 7 anglers* (two sharing the Island swim) at a time giving anglers plenty of room to enjoy their carp fishing in peace. The fish that are stocked in this lake include big mirrors, commons & grass carp.

The Lodge

The lodge has an English flush toilet, wash basin & shower which is available 24 hours a day. There is also a diner, bait & tackle shop located in the lodge which sells end tackle and baits. We also sell ice-cream, chocolate, crisps….

Local attractions

The nearest village is 2km away which is the nearest neighbours apart from the cows in the farmers next field. The only noise to be heard is that of wildlife! The closest town to the lake is Verdun which was founded by the Gauls.
